Life After Laurels Idea

A few weeks ago my stake had an activity for the girls ages 16-18 (Laurels) titled Life After Laurels.  It was on a Saturday and was from 9:30 to Noon.   There was a breakfast and then speakers came and talked about subjects that would be important to the girls after they graduate high school and the young womens program.  I learned a lot!

The topics included:
  • Institute
  • The young single adult program
  • Living at home and going to school
  • Going away to college
  • Financing College/scholarships
  • Financial Aid
  • Banking (Getting a checking account, credit and all that good jazz)
  • Car Insurance/What to do in an car accident
  • Interviewing for Emplyment
  • Your role in Relief Society
I made the signs below (on a large scale) as table decor and we gave them to some of the girls after the event.

I had an idea when I was setting up and brought one sign home.  Here it is.....

I made it and don't need it anymore.  It's about 6 x 24 inches.  If you're a YW leader and would like it..it's yours free. You just need to pay to ship it.  First one who leaves a comment below gets it :)  Make sure you leave a way for me to contact you.

  1. That's really nice of you. I'm not a Laurel leader, so no need to include me if I'm first. I just wanted to tell you you're a nice person and I appreciate that.

  6. I bet they loved it. I'm forever in Primary. I'm not kidding. But once my daughter gets a little older that may change.

  8. So you guys have my brain turning. The Laurel leaf woven in a crown stands for honor and accomplishment. The beehive stands for harmony, cooperation and work. The Miamaids emblem is a symbol of love, faith and purity...Should I put what each one stands for underneath?? Give me some feedback girls :)

  9. I would love this... I am the transitional specialist and could use it as I try to help the Laurels transition into Relief Society... if it is still up for grabs.
