Heart 101 - A 2x4 Tutorial

I love love.  Kinda cheesy right?  I'm okay with that.  Today I made another 2x4 heart project.  It's fun and chunky.  I wonder if that's how people describe me?

Here is how to make this little bundle of love.  Grab 4 pieces of 2x4.  I had these in my garage.  They are 6 inches long.  I traced a heart on my wood.

I then cut the lines on the wood at a 45 degree angle.  Give your wooden heart a good sand.

Paint your wood heart and let it dry.  During that dry time you can do the 50 million other things you need to do.  I won't list all of mine :)  Sand the edges again and I inked the edges of my heart.  Cut some fun scrapbook paper in strips and mod podge to heart.

A wood project always needs a little gorilla glue.  Glue the pieces together and let dry.

You're done!  Lovin' this chunky heart!

Love Bug & Linky Party

My son has a great preschool teacher.  She does tons of cute fun projects with the kids.  Yesterday Bryce  brought this home....

It's a note held closed with a love bug (small clothespin, foam shapes & pipe cleaners).  It's adorable and easy to make!

It's time to link up!  I love checking out different blogs and getting inspired.  The best part is there are no rules.  Link to a project that you want to share!

Love Crochet Banner

I caught the banner bug the other day.  Since then banners have been on my brain. Yesterday I came up with this crocheted banner....

I like this time of year because we focus on love.  Even most of the craft projects out there are about hearts and love.

I think maybe some of you might enjoy this funny craft moment....As I was making this project (almost 2 triangles in) I joked with my husband I was making a bikini.  I was JOKING.  I just want to make that clear.  Well my 8 year old close listening daughter was doing just that... listening and since that has told everyone we see that her mom is crocheting a bikini :)  Oh the joys of kids.  They really do make life fun!

All you need is love!

Anyone interested in the pattern?  I'm willing to share!

Projects & Linkin' it up PaRtY!

If you own a tween this picture might be familiar....

Yes I can "own" her a few more years!  She walked in after school and I was working on a project.  She said, "Mom, I thought I told you to chill out on the crafting!".  I laughed.  The other day she lectured me on how I should craft less and read more.  She loves to read...so do I.  I'm not sure why she thought the lecture was necessary :)

Didn't have any hooks to hang up the new sign so I had my anti-craft daughter be the hooks...

She loved every moment of it!

I'm likin' the molding projects.  Here are some stars....

It's a fun easy project that anyone can do.  You can even find clearance molding at Home Depot.

A gal in my craft group needs a little inspiration.  She is in charge of this month's craft night and doesn't know what to do.  Let's help her out by LINKIN' IT UP! It's so easy.  There are no rules.  Just share a project. I know my readers aren't just beautiful wonderful people...they are also super crafty.  Show me what your up to!

Friends Inspire...

I have some really great friends who inspire me.  My friend Hannah made this.....

So stinkin cute.  I'm in love with the whole idea!  I met Hannah through my blog and we quickly have decided to be online best friends.  I keep telling her there are houses for sale around me :)  Hannah is so awesome!  She is letting me share this printable...

Love

My friend Kristen had this brilliant idea of gluing (I used Gorilla glue!) molding together and then cutting it into a heart shape.  Genius!

I had to make this one right away and I love it.  I'm not sure exactly where it will end up but I have a feeling burlap might make an appearance with it.

Thanks to good friends who inspire!!!

Wreath

It's time for the ornament wreath to come down off my front door.  The only problem is I don't have anything to take it's place.  Yesterday I set off to make a Valentine's wreath and ended up with something else.

Remember those burlap flower ornaments I made for my tree?  I put them to good use on my wreath!  Lovin' the different style of flowers together.

I also made a few burlap hearts for this wreath.  They didn't make the cut for this project but maybe something in the future?

{LOVE}

I'm a mood crafter. I think I'm also getting good at making up crafty terms:) Just in case you don't know what a mood crafter is...it's someone who crafts to their particular mood at that moment.

Today I've been grouchy. When I was little I was taught when you are grouchy and having grouchy thoughts to sing an uplifting song. My song has changed throughout the years. When I started with my grouchy thoughts today I thought for sure my song would be "Count Your Blessings" It wasn't. It was this....

"There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn
how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time -
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need."

As I sang my little heart out I created this....

All you need is love. Thanks little heart craft for making my heart feel happy.

Hearts

My nieces came over for the day yesterday. The younger one allowed me to use her as a model :) Check out these adorable tiny crochet hearts...

I'm making a bunch of these for the Heart2Heart Service Project. Wanna make one? I learned how to make these HERE. My only suggestion is when doing the 5 hdc's in the pattern do them loosely. If you make them tight your heart will end up with holes. It only took me 5 hearts to figure it out.
